Sustainability Policy
RetroTekUSA Inc is 100% subsidiary of Reflective Measurement Systems Ltd (RMS). RMS is a fully Irish owned business that designs, manufactures and tests equipment for conducting detailed surveys on transport networks using retroreflectivity technology. RMS equipment assist in delivering safer road transport networks by accurately measuring the retroreflectivity (night visibility) and day contrast of pavement markings on roads and runways. RMS are involved with all stakeholders in the transport industry i.e. government agencies, road/airport authorities, survey contractors, road markings applicators, survey equipment manufacturers & road condition profilers. RMS are keen to collaborate to improve safety and enable road agencies to prioritize their budgets to achieve maximum impact.
RMS are dedicated to championing sustainability for the betterment of our environment. We acknowledge the lasting consequences of our actions on the planet and have therefore incorporated many strategies to curtail our carbon emissions and lessen our impact. We will track our progress in this regard by monitoring our company’s carbon footprint.
We believe that transport fuel usage in our fleet, plus the use of electricity in our process are our main impacts, and we will address these issues as a matter of urgency. It is our intention to reduce the quantity of transport fuel used at RMS to an absolute minimum by a combination of conservation and avoidance practices. Similarly, we will embark on an energy conservation program in order to address this excessive usage. To this end, we have set in place a detailed three-year program in order to fully implement our ambitious transport fuel use and electricity usage reduction plan (among other things). We are confident that, when fully rolled out, we will be among the best engineering services providers in the country in terms of transport fuel reduction and energy conservation.
In addition to addressing RMS direct environmental impacts, we will work closely with our suppliers and customer partners to ensure that sustainability is important to them, and a key consideration of the work they do on our behalf.
Our ultimate objective is to become a carbon neutral business by 2030 through a combination of offsetting and demand-side reduction/management. RMS will reach Net zero status by 2034.
To achieve this status we will, at all times, embrace the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) approach to running our company i.e. People, Planet, Profit. That is to say, we value the people who make this happen and the planet which enables it as much as the financial profit which our business enjoys. As part of this approach, we will run our activities in strict accordance with the 4 Rs (Reuse, Recover, Repurpose and Recycle). We will also work with our suppliers and clients to ensure that they join us on this journey.

Our Sustainability Program
Reflective Measurement Systems Ltd (RMS) recognizes that sustainability is a critical aspect of doing business. We have made a commitment to operate in a way that reduces our environmental impact, and we strive to achieve this goal every day. We believe that every business has a responsibility to contribute to environmental protection, and we have taken several steps to ensure that we do our part.
The environment is important to us, and we therefore propose to run our business strictly in accordance with the principal of triple bottom line reporting i.e. People, Planet, Profit. We value the people who make this happen and the planet which enables it in the first place as much as the financial profit which the business enjoys. This is the way we will conduct our business as it evolves into a carbon neutral entity by 2030 and then net zero and below by 2034.
A comprehensive environmental improvements program is currently being prepared by the business which will enable this.
Our Sustainability commitment
We commit to becoming a carbon neutral business by 2030 and net zero or below by 2034. We will demonstrate that we are on track to achieve these goals through a year-on-year reduction in our business Carbon footprint. We will achieve Carbon neutrality by a combination of demand-side resource reduction, constituent substitution and/or targeted carbon offsetting.

Future Sustainability Goals to help Reflective Measurement Systems Ltd meet our overall objective
To help us achieve our main goal of becoming a Net zero business by 2034, we will:
- Appoint a Sustainability Manager, responsible for overseeing and implementing our sustainability initiatives, ensuring measurable progress, and ensuring transparency for stakeholders. Our manager will undertake training in the field of sustainability to ensure appropriate measures are implemented.
- Prepare and fully implement a strategy or improvements plan covering issues like energy conservation, water usage reduction, waste generation and management, sustainability communications & reporting.
- Align Reflective Measurement Systems Ltd.’s sustainability objectives with the revised United Nations strategic sustainability development goals (UNSDGs).
- Gain external accreditation for our sustainability program such as ISO 14001.
- Work with our customers and clients to bring sustainability issues to the top of their business agendas.
- Establish the Carbon Footprint of our direct business and supply chain (scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions) and publish this on our website. We will also monitor and reduce it annually.
- Develop a sustainability KPI suite for the business in order to monitor and ensure we are on track to meet our goals.
- Participate in the Green for business, LEO administered, program.
- Implement a Carbon Offset Program as appropriate.
- Develop a sustainable employee training program.
